1 million Euros seized at Algiers International Airport
Customs services at Algiers international airport foiled dozens of attempts to transfer hard currency by foreign and Algerian nationals and succeeded in retrieving over 1 million euros including sums in US Dollars, Pounds and Yens,

The customs’ services regional Manager in charge of foreign affairs, last week indicated that lastest estimates showed that the different departments garnered some 160 million Algerian Dinars representing over 70% of the containers at Algiers port.

The services that registered the biggest foreign commercial incomes are located in the region of “ Ain Taya” and “Pins Maritime” (east of Algiers) through customs clearance operations at the piers that took delivery of over 180 thousand cars.

“Pins Maritime” customs services registered record incomes valued at more than 89 billion Algerian Dinars and foiled 67 contraband attempts and money transfers crowned with the recovery of an amount of 31 million Algerian Dinars.

Some 50 thousand cases have been treated at the Algiers International Airport at the level of the so called “Red Passage” in which the imported products are thoroughly inspected for purely security reasons.

969 declarations have been recorded at “ABC” warehouse, 440 others at Fedex and some 7894 declarations were recorded at DHL warehouse, as to the overall weight of imports and exports at the these warehouses, this one reached 6000 tons.
