100 million protective masks to combat swine flu in Algeria

Algerian government gave the green light to the Ministry of Health in order to buy 100 million protective masks to combat the swine flu and provide the sum of more than 80 million dinars after acquiring 6.5 million protective asks since the emergence of the H1N1 virus in response to the warnings of the World Health Organization which notified all the world countries for the lifting of prevention levels following the spread of the pandemic in 46 countries killing 91 people and leaving more than 12.000 infected with H1N1 virus.

• Official sources at the Ministry of Health said the PM Ahmed Ouyahia agreed on the draft to lift Algeria’s reserves to combat the swine flu to the highest levels.
• Ouyahia also instructed all the ministries to coordinate with the emergency cell at the Ministry of Health and comply with all its needs as well as giving the green light to the Ministry of Health to launch a national and international auction to buy 100 million additional units of protective masks before the beginning of next social entry in preparation for the arrival of a seasonal flu which may carry the H1N1 virus by the beginning of autumn.
• Official in charge of communication at the Ministry of Health denied any suspected cases in Algeria, but two foreign tourists who were subjected to preventive medical tests at the level of the health committees in the airports as a purely proactive prevention after features of fatigue appeared on their faces then the results show that they are not infected with H1N1 virus.
• Previously, the Algerian Minister of Health, Population and Hospitals Reform, Said Berkat, presented details of the national plan to combat Swine Flu before the government council headed by the PM after the World Health Organization confirmed 658 cases of infection in the world and lifted the state of emergency on the fifth class of the scale containing six degrees. This pushed Algeria to deploy over 80 billion dinars to combat the looming pandemic.
