10,000 guards for baccalaureate 2009 in Algeria
Chiefs of baccalaureate exam will get 25 direct phone lines in every province in Algeria under surveillance to detect any breach during the exam, sources at the central commission of 2009 baccalaureate preparation said.

The government will increase the number of security agents at independent candidates’ centres to six for each while the rest of the centres will have three agents for each. The number of the centres is estimated at 1,578, according to the same sources.

The security agents who will not be allowed to use their cell phones will prevent any gathering at the exam and correction centres.

All the exam centres will be provided with psychologists and direct phone lines with fire fighters.

The Algiers-based results centre will be headed by Salhi, chief of the National Office of Contests and Exams. He will be provided with 40 direct phone lines under surveillance between all the exam and correction centres.

Central cells of every education department will be provided with about 25 direct phone lines under surveillance. Observers’ commissions of three members of each will be in charge of surveillance.

Candidates are not allowed to bring cell phones and calculators and must be accompanied with guards to go to the bathroom.
