The second regional command of the National Gendarmerie in Oran province (west of Algiers) organised a manoeuvre about ensuring the safety of an official cortege on an inspection visit.
-
A total of 900 gendarmes out of 12 groups were mobilised in the manoeuvre which was meant to test the capacities of the intervention forces and reinforce their performance in mountainous areas.
-
“This manoeuvre reflects the most important missions of the intervention units. They are deployed in the various routes taken by the cortege among greeting crowds,” said Colonel Azzi, chief of intervention units’ office.
-
“We noticed that the gendarmes accompany the official cortege during project inaugurations. They are deployed along the route and surrounded the area,” he added.
