2010 World Cup: 7 new players to join the Algeria football squad

“Echorouk” has learnt that national team coach, Rabah Saâdane, has established a list of 30 players which will be sent to the World Football Governing Body (FIFA) by May 15th at the latest ahead of the upcoming World Cup football tournament due to be hosted by South Africa.  

• This list secured exclusively by the newspaper “Echorouk” includes a total of 11 new players who did not take part in the recent Africa Cup of Nations’ contest held in Angola.
• 7 out of these 11 selected players have never worn the national colours with the Algeria line-up.
• As far as the goalkeepers are concerned, Saâdane has selected Gaouaoui, Chaouchi, Zemamouche and Si Mohammed Cédric of the first – division squad of JSM Béjaia.
• The names of professional goalkeepers Michael Fabre and Mbolhi have not however been retained by Saâdane.
• 2 local defenders namely Meftah of JS Kabylie and Metref of ES Sétif have been picked out by the national team coach alongside  professional players  Belaid and Chakouri.
• The midfield of the Algeria squad will be beefed up by the precious contribution of 3 professional players including Guedioura, Khadir and Boudebbouz.
• El Ittihad of Djeddah striker Abdelmalek Ziaya is back to the national squad together with Ameur Bouazza of Blackpool.
• Forward Karim Soltani who plays in the first-division Dutch championship is also included in the list ahead of the World cup contest slated for next June in South Africa.
