Units of frontiers-guards of the province of Bechar (southern Algeria), have the day before yesterday foiled attempts to supply terrorists groups by drug dealers’ networks when they succeeded to seize two wagons carrying 3.5 tons of drug in addition to a “Kalashnikov “ and “FM” machine-guns, ammunitions and binoculars.

  • Air and ground forces have been deployed to carry out a large- scale combing operation around the areas where a group of smugglers are supposed seeking refuge in order to hunt them down, while other elements slipped through the security forces’ nest heading for Morocco.
  •
  • The operation comes as part of the security forces’ special plan launched a year ago which is designed to tighten the rope around the smugglers in general and more specifically the drug dealers.
  •
  • An attempt to smuggle some 50 tons of drug and arms coming from Morocco were foiled by the frontiers’ guards. Sources revealed the existence of a close alliance between terrorist groups operating the desert region and Moroccan drug barons in terms of supply and means of transportation.
  •
  • The gendarmerie forces have succeeded to seize some 50 tons of drugs so far. This quantity could have been used to drug 50 thousand Algerians.
