32 million Algerians watched the match Algeria- Slovenia: survey reveals
The first match of the Algerian national team versus Slovenia as part of the 2010 world cup tournament was the subject study of the latest poll conducted by “ Mediasense†agency.

The study was carried out in a record time of six hours right after the end of the match and wound up at around 8pm, the Agency’s managers have declared.

The study, that polled the Algerian fans over their national squad’s matches, is regarded as the first of its kind and the third concerning the consumption’s trends of the Algerian viewers through different platforms.

The survey was designed to know the rate of the Algerian viewers that watched the match, where did they do it and on which channel. The poll was carried out directly with the citizens from 12.30 am until 3 pm.

Half of the Algerians use digital satellite receivers

The survey has revealed that 49% of the Algerians have used digital satellite receivers because they rushed to acquire digital receivers and TV sets for their high quality definition and the availability of the sports channels that broadcast the World cup competition matches, including the Qatar-based channel “ Al Jazeera Sports”.

On the other hand, 41% among them have followed the match between Algeria and Slovenia on the national terrestrial channel which signal is easily picked up using the traditional antenna.

The remaining 10% turned to the analogue satellite receivers in order to watch the world cup matches on the French channels that acquired the rights of this competition.

The survey added that 57% of the Algerians oriented their sky dishes towards “Nilesat” to get the possibility to follow the matches on the Arab channels including “Al Jazeera Sports”. Meanwhile 33% preferred “Hotbird” in a move to pick up the European channels especially the German ones to know about the inns and outs of the world cup competition.
