40 Africans arrested in Algeria for forgery

Algeria’s National Gendarmerie forces arrested more than 40 people from various nationalities last week for documents and foreign currency forgery, Echorouk has learnt.

  • The suspects who are illegal immigrants were caught in two villas in eastern Algiers. Of them, six women from Cameroon, Nigeria, Mali and Chad.
  • Investigators seized a considerable quantity of forged documents and currency including official seals.
  • According to the same source, the investigators foiled an attempt to market fake foreign currency worth $10,000 and a quantity of Chinese currency.
  • The investigators also found bags of powder and chemical products used for forgery along with computers, printing machines and scanners.
  • Security investigations showed that the network was divided into groups for different missions including witchcrafts.
  • A limited amount of cocaine and a large quantity of jewels were seized.
  • The arrested suspects appeared in court last week. The judge ordered to put 30 of them in jail and the ten others under judicial surveillance.
  • According to investigations, the two villas owner rent them at 5,000 to 7,000 DZ.
