48 Algerian illegal immigrants arrested in Tunisia on charges of terrorism

Association which represents families of Algerian illegal immigrants to move next week to Tunisia in order to meet 48 illegal immigrants who left the Algerian coasts since seven months towards Italy, however, they were arrested by the Tunisian coast guards, and detained in the Tunisian jails without calling their families.

  • Representative of the illegal immigrants’ families, Kamal Belabed, exclusively told Echorouk that the Tunisian authorities insisted on refusal to tell their places of detention, and refused to help solve the problem of illegal immigrants who are living abroad in order to know whether they are alive or dead.
  •
  • According to the same sources, the Tunisian authorities declared, days after arresting the 48 Algerian illegal immigrants, the detention of two boats which were coming from the Algerian coasts, which is considered, according to their families, a proof that their children are detained in Tunisia, and despite efforts to reach them they failed, particularly since they called both the Algerian nad Tunisian embassies.
  •
  • “My association was able to get some information from Tunisian families saying that 48 Algerian illegal immigrants, including 3 Tunisians were arrested in charges of terrorism, thing which may complicate their situation, particularly since the Tunisian laws accused anyone trying to enter its waters illegally of being a terrorist.
