50,000 Algerians Entered Tunisia Through Tebessa Within A Week

The four border posts in Tebessa province (eastern Algeria), noticed these days, with the approaching New Year’s Day and the Winter Holiday, a significant increase in the movement of tourists who traveled to spend the New Year’s Day, and citizens who decided to take their children and wives in order to stamp their passports, and justify the exchange of hard currency or tourism grant to resell them in the parallel market, prompting the concerned parties at the level of the police and customs authorities to take all necessary measures to double the staff at the level of the border posts in order to avoid queues and waiting, which many tourists have complained of today through the Tunisian border, for reasons that prompted the Algerian side, at the level of the border posts, to send the leaders to look and find a solution to the serious problem.

During the visit of Echorouk, on Tuesday, to the land border center of Bouchabka, the largest land border with Tunisia, in spite of the passage of thousands through the border post every day, as stated by the Algerians, Tunisians and Libyans, the duration of the stop is brief, where the waiting period does not exceed ten minutes per person.

In this context, the head of of the border center, the governor Zein Hamila told Echorouk, that in order to provide a best service for Algerians and foreigners, several measures were taken at the level of the border post that are equipped with biometric devices, where there are at least 15 policemen and customs in the reception of passenger passports, in addition to fingerprint monitoring devices, and green corridors were also allocated for those with special needs and tourists through the cohorts, the elderly and the handicapped.

Chief Inspector of Customs at the border center, Maizi Khamisi told Echorouk , that the number of customs officers have been doubled and all cases were addressed, whether those related to commerce and tourism, which was recommended by all passengers and was confirmed by many tourists.

“Since December,20, the number of passengers exceeded 23.000, with a daily average between 5900 and 6,200 passengers.
