The Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Caci) is organizing as part of its promotional activities abroad, the trips of a delegation of Algerian businessmen, led by its President Laid Benamor, to Côte d’Ivoire, Togo and Benin from 17 to 25 July 2016, according to Mr Mohamed Nabil Bourouis, head of international cooperation within the Caci.

According to the latter, “this tour, entitled  “West Africa Road Show 2016”, will aim to examine, firstly, with the Ivorian Togolese and Benin sides, partnership and potential joint ventures and allow the the Algerian economic operators to have more visibility on the investment opportunities of their products in a growing African market with over 350 million inhabitants. “

Asked whether many operators will be part of the delegation that will travel in the western region of Africa, he replied that “for now, we are in full mobilization. We announced the program on the website of “Caci” and operators can find all the information they want to know”.

We also posted an entry form to be sent before 30 June in progress but in our experience, we know that African markets interest our producers and exporters.” Mr Bourouis said, stressing that “we will explore the markets to place Algerian products that have a very good quality / price ratio. This will be a first step and others will follow suit.”

He also said that “on this occasion, business forums followed by B2B meetings and field visits and meetings with key players in the business world as business associations and officials, will be organized in each the three countries according to the first track program.

The delegation’s travel to Côte d’Ivoire is scheduled from 17 to 20 July 2016, then a visit to Togo, from 21 to 22 July 2016 and finally to Benin from 22 to 24 July 2016.

A recall that the Ivorian chamber of commerce is very active in our country notably last May, on the occasion of the Algiers International Fair (FIA) and precisely the in Algeria-Export wing, with on focus several export contracts being signed estimated at $ 145 million between Algeria and 2 African countries namely Cote d’Ivoire and Chad.

However, it is undeniable that the actions and operations as those of the Caci are laudable, the fact remains that these actions remain insufficient given the current environment which requires more effort both on the part of operators that economic authorities to accompany and make it easier for Algerian exporters.

It should noted that no accord would be signed on the occasion of these upcoming visits concerning the export of Algerian-assembled vehicles because these projects are nor ripe enough in Algeria, according to Caci sources.

At present, the share of Algeria in the African market represents only 0.25%, according to the National Agency for promotion of non-oil exports (Algex), the volume of trade between Algeria and the rest of African countries does not exceed $ 184 million.
