65 Dams to Provide 77.08% of Water for Algerians in this Summer
The Ministry of Water Resources revealed that the national average rate of the dams that are exploited in Algeria reached 77.08% since the beginning of the current summer, and that the national stockpile of water reaches up to 5.82 billion m 3 compared to 4.97 billion cubic meters during the same period of last year.
A statement by the Ministry of Water Resources shows that the highest proportion of the reserves in Algeria from surface water resources was recorded in 23 dams of eastern Algeria at the range of 90.22%, while 5 dams noticed a 100%, led by the dam of Beni Haroune, which is the largest dam in Algeria, with a storage capacity of one billion m3 (960 one million m3).
The region of the center, which has 12 dams noticed 81.74% of water reserve, three of which are filled by 98 percent, such as the dam of Kedadra, situated reality in Boumerdes (east of Algiers), which provides 98.15% of the population of Algiers and its suburbs with water, while the percentage of Kodia Aserdon dam in Bouira reached 76.21%, followed by the 17 dams of Chlef (west of Algiers), which have known 64.14% of water reserve.
