76 percent of civil servants have money problems in Algeria

A total of 76.71 percent of civil servants in Algeria have financial problems which made them suffering from psychological and social pressures, a new study finds.

  • “They see themselves as poor civil servants who wish they could die to end their suffering,” said a study conducted by social and professional studies cell at the national union of civil servants.
  • “Their financial problems are increasing due to the high prices of food and they are more concerned about the future of their children,” it added.
  • The study was conducted on a sample of civil servants from various sectors and many public administrations in education, health, vocational training and others.
  • A total of 22,482 civil servants were asked whether they are satisfied about their salary compared to their work. Some 98.87 percent of them said they are not satisfied.
  • The second question was ‘how much are your monthly expenses?’
  • The study showed that most of them they spend their salaries in buying food and some necessary cleaning up products for the family.
  • It also said the Algerian civil servant spends 75 14 percent of his monthly salary on power, gas and water invoices.
