Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal Thursday said Arabic language recovered its place in Algeria as it is used in all the central and local administrations. Religious affairs minister denied allegations that Algeria would buy the Paris Mosque.

“The official language remarkably recovered its place in the last few years. Some institutions which still use a foreign language is an exceptional case explained by international cooperation specificities,” said relations with Parliament minister Tahar Khaoua on behalf of Sellal.

“Local and central reports show that most of the official publications are written in Arabic. This language is also used in professional, administrative and legal documents,” he told Parliament.

He added that cells were established at public institutions to translate documents into Arabic and create specialized dictionaries.

Religious affairs minister Mohamed Aissa denied reports about the Algerian government’s intention to buy the Paris Mosque.

“The Paris Mosque is established on a French land. We can not buy it. We will create an institution named after Emir Abdelkader. It will register all the mosques under the Paris Mosque,” he told journalists.
