Vice-chairman of the Enterprise Chiefs Forum Mohamed Bairi Sunday said cars price may increase by 20 percent due to tax raise in the Financial Act 2016.

Bairi said sales decreased in cars importing market by around 17 percent in 2014. The Forum submitted an emergency plan to Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal in order to develop local products.

The Forum also offered proposals to take off bureaucratic and administrative hindrances to enable entrepreneurs to develop products.

Bairi also said the administration intervened in granting licences and real-estates. “That caused many hindrances and prevented investors from achieving their project.”

“The Forum asks for the appointment of a commercial attaché at embassies in charge of coordinating between Algerian investors and foreign markets,” he added.

A conference will be held in November about commercial brand. A new institution is expected to be created named ‘the Algerian Guaranteed Quality.” It will be in charge of supervising local products quality and encouraging Algerian manufacturers to register their products under commercial brands.
