List of “austerity goods” soon before Parliament

Parliament’s two chambers discussed in the upcoming spring session, the list of goods that are concerned about the decision to reduce the import, Trade Minister, Amara Ben Younes, said.
“Trade Ministry is currently preparing the list before delivering it to the Prime Ministry, and then discussing it in Parliament.”
Ben Younes, asserted in a press conference, on the sidelines of conclusion works of the autumn session of parliament chambers, that the list of that will be presented to the two chambers in the next session will be attached to important licenses that will allow importers and exporters to work in more freedom and comfort, and will determine and regulate the import and export process in Algeria in the framework of guarantee free trade in the country.
“According to the economic situation of the country, and with the decline in oil prices, the state is seeking to reduce the import, and not prevent it entirely, and it means that some of the goods are not produced locally, on the grounds that the process is financially expensive, and there are a number of goods that available in Algeria, “So we decided to reduce the excess of expenses and investment in major projects that are largely in the benefit of Algeria’s economy. Import process will focus more on raw materials that are oriented for industry and all sectors that develop the national production.”
In response to a question about Algeria’s accession to the World Trade Organization, the minister stressed that Algeria is still continuing a series of consultations in order to join it with less damages and greater benefit on the country’s economy, adding that the licenses that will be imposed on the importer and exporter come within the rules and regulations that are imposed by the Organization, as Algeria in case of joining the WTO, it should respond to these conditions, and consultations are still ongoing.
