Austerity reaches power, gas, gasoline and water consumption
Algeria’s energy ministry established an exceptional program to optimize power, gas, gasoline and water consumption as part of the government’s austerity plan, Echorouk has learnt.
A special commission formed by energy minister Youcef Yousfi will be in charge of making a plan to optimize energy consumption.
The plan would include encouraging and punishing measures to people and companies.
It will be submitted to the cabinet for approval. The AVT on companies operating in renewable energy will be reduced. The government will also increase industry, new and renewable energy inputs to reduce consumption.
According to the same sources, the government will examine mechanisms to determine needy people. It also plans to establish a data base of needy people as part of social help optimization.
