National Union of Education and Training (UNPEF) paralyzed various educational institutions in Algeria, after launching an open strike, with the organization of sit-ins in front of all the education directorates across the country, at a time pupils and their parents were surprised of the quick strike.

Spokesman of the union, Messaoud Amraoui, told Echorouk that the sit-in that was organized by teachers and the staff of education sector, who are affiliated to the union, in front of all the directorates of education across the country, came in response to the ministry’s failure to meet many of their social and professional outstanding demands, and procrastination in finding solutions on the ground.
“These protests is a message to the senior authorities of the country, in order to take the demands of professors, teachers and staff in consideration. If the situation remained unchanged, the union will be forced at the beginning of November, to enter into an open-ended strike, which the National Council of the Union avoids to reach.
“This sit-in was organized after the ministry stalled in responding to all the demands that have remained stuck in the minutes of the joint agreement that is emanating from the strike last February. We will launch an open-ended strike if the ministry considers their demands and preferred the policy of escaping forward.”
“Demand about the right of teachers and professors who were graduated and trained after June 3, 2012 in developed grades, including principle professors and trainers, in addition to the school teachers in the Technical Division who did not benefit from all instructions that were received in the same record, with asking for the need to the allow staff of economic services to benefit from the pedagogical grant, especially since this category has entered its second month of open strike without any reaction or gesture of the education ministry that wants to worsen the situation.”
