Morocco punishes man who desecrated Algerian Flag with 22 Euros fine

Algeria State Department described the judgment against the men who defiled the national flag ta the consulate in Casablanca as a scandal and “shameless decision” by the Moroccan authorities.

As expected, this action explicitly confirms the lie of the “isolated act”.

Algeria demanded severe punishment for the person involved in this act to prevent similar abuses.

Algerian Foreign Ministry responded according to the judicial rule of that was issued last Thursday, by the Court of Appeal in Casablanca, which decided to punish the so-called “Halid Naanaa”, a member of the “Monarchy Youth Association”, with only two months in prison with a suspended access and a fine of 250 dirhams, equivalent to 22 Euros only.

Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, Ammar Belani, said in a written statement which copy is available to Echorouk, that Morocco can not evade its international obligations, as well as full responsibility for the shameful attack, which targeted Algeria Consulate in Casablanca, in last November, where he the desecration of the national flag took place on the Algerian Revolution Day.

“Moroccan authorities are obliged to respect the international conventions and obligations, which are related to ensuring the safety and protection of diplomatic and consular missions, under the Vienna Conventions of 1961 and 1963”, he added.

“For us, the international responsibility of Morocco remains fully committed to it because such acts are dangerous and shameful, and can not be forgiven without punishment, because the safety and protection of diplomatic and consular missions is one of the main pillars that govern the international relationships”.

Provocative decision that was issued by the Moroccan judicial authorities was recited at the Court of Casablanca, in the presence of so-called “Naanaa” and many of adherents to the “Royal Youth Society” and civil society activists in Morocco, in order to support the criminal aggression that targeted the Consulate of Algeria and the desecration of its national flag. 

This act was justified by “Naanaa” as a “national motive” (..). At the time he was charged with “violation of a private building and the destruction of a property!”

Observers think that this decision is a direct provocation by Morocco to Algeria, which demanded the opening of an investigation in the attack against the Algerian consulate, which remains a dangerous act that can not be included as an ” isolated incident” according to the official version of the Kingdom !

Morocco’s escape from  condemning and punishing “Naanaa” and before him “Chebbat”, confirms  the “Regime’s touch” in the campaign to instruct prejudice and insulting against Algeria. Despite calling the Moroccan ambassador and asking for an explicit position of his country regarding the abuses against Algeria, but Morocco insists on throwing himself from the last floor!
