Political Class Sceptic Over the Success of President Reforms

The political class in Algeria, except the FLN and the RND, has voiced scepticism over the success of the political reforms pleaded by President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, regarding the bunch of bills drawn up so far by the government “which do not reflects aspirations of the people.”

In fact, the bills of political parties’ code, elections code and information code proposed by the government are all far from responding the people’s aspirations, and yet, proves that the regime tends to win more time that may heal the “food riots” of January, opposition parties concluded.
Spokesman for the Movement for Society of Peace (MSP) Mohammed Djomaa warned that “the announced political reforms to turn into soulless technical stuff, rather than real and fundamental reforms as Algerians want to see.”
Mr Djomaa further added that the “reforms announced by President Bouteflika were constructive and an outcome of objective analysis to the situation in the Algeria, yet, what we are attending on the field makes us believing that the administration tends to deter those reforms from target, which likely to put the country in front of potential risks.”
This conclusion is shared by all the political parties, including the FNA, Ennahda and Al-Islah, which are calling on for paving the way to free and transparent elections, spread more liberties and inculcate social equality.
However, the two major parties in the parliament, FLN and RND have both avoided commenting the proposed bunch of bills of reforms, given that “there is nothing official yet.”
