Egyptian authorities Wednesday prevented Palestinian boy scouts from attending the 10th National Conference of Algerian Islamic Scouting.

  • Egyptian security authorities did not authorised the delegation to pass through the Rafah crossing point because of popular protests.
  •
  • The three-day conference is expected to be held starting from Thursday in the Palais des Nations in Algiers.
  •
  • General Commander of the Islamic Scouting Nourredine Ben Braham said Algerian foreign ministries and embassy to Cairo played a mediation role between the Palestinian delegation and Egyptian authorities to allow them passing by the crossing point.
  •
  • “Gaza’s scout boys were prevented from passing and they were stuck in the borders. Orders were given to not allow them. On the other hand, the Sahrawi delegation arrived to Algeria on Wednesday,” he told Echorouk.
  •
  • The conference untitled ‘Scouting Simply’ will deal about scout boys’ internal life, the national commandment, youth’s situation and recent protests in Algeria.
