A back-up terrorism cell before Algiers criminal court

The judge of investigation at the sixth chamber of Al Harrach court in Algiers wrapped up the hearing session for the members of a dangerous cell, specialised in stealing cars from citizens under threats with firearms, violence, then hiding the stolen cars in the woods of Bordj Elkifane, in order to support the terrorist groups holed up in the nearby mountains.

  • The case of the accused, including a woman was transferred to the criminal court on charges of supporting terrorist groups in the mountains through criminal acts of stealing vehicles. The culprits were remanded in provisional custody last June 28th.
  •  The security services in charge of anti-terrorism struggle in Dar El Baida locality  found a plastic bag, which was hidden by the mother of two elements of the back- up terrorism cell in the beach of Bordj El Kifane.  The bag  contained a Beretta Pistol 8 mm calibre, a traditional gun with 24 cartridges and 40 bullets of a Kalashnikov rifle. The security forces also recovered a stolen Toyota car  in Draa Essouta in Bordj El Kifane, east of Algiers as part of their investigations.
  • The details of this case were unveiled when a citizen from “Ismail Yefsah” housing compound in Bab Ezzouar, in suburban Algiers, was shot by two unidentified people who were on board  a black BMW car. The BMW was followed by another vehicle which was parked there on June 24, 2009, at 5:30 pm in the same parking lot.
