A Dismal French Book Offends Emir Abdelkader

A Dismal French Book Offends Emir Abdelkader

At a time when the monumental film, highlighting the eminent stature of late Emir Abdelkader, by recounting his lofty life and commendable itinerary has been experiencing a series of delays in its achievement, a low-down book is due to be published in France that denigrates and devalues the founder of the Algerian nation.

The French found there, through this book, the opportunity to pour their venom on a famous Algerian personality, a seasoned politician, a great military leader, a humanist and clear-sighted theologian…

This book offers a narrow vision from a colonial perspective and is offensive to the brand-image of Emir Abdelkader, and is based on a painting of Ange Tissier achieved in 1861, where we see Napoleon giving freedom  to the Emir from his Amboise prison.
