A Spanish company won a 1.3 million EUR contract to study Oran metro

Spanish Sener Ingennieria Y Systemas S.A won a tender for the study of metro in Oran, West of Algeria.

The tender was launched last September by Algiers Metro Company (EMA public).

The Spanish firm has won contract of study on May 23 for an amount of 1.3 million Euros.

Oran’s metro project is part of an investment plan for the period between 2010 and 2014.

Oran metro line is expected to cross the city from east to west at a distance of 16 km with connection points with the tramway’s route, under construction by the French Alstom at a distance of 18 km.

In Algiers, the first phase of metro construction works on a 9 km rail should be completed by October 31, according to the Minister of Transports Amar Tou.
