A twin bomb targets a former GIA leader
Security services dismantled, Saturday morning at about 8 am, a twin bombs which were put inside a pack in front of the house of the founder of the Armed Islamic Group “GIA†and its former leader Abdelhak El Aiaid, following a communication by Abdelhak to the security services at about 7 am.

Echorouk moved to Abdelhak’s house in Barreki, Algiers, where we met his younger brother Zouhir who said “Abdelhak came out as usual from his home at about 5 am for the prayer in the mosque and returned back after ending his prayer, but he did not noticed the bomb at that moment because of darkness, and when he came out to go to his shop for repairing mobile phones, he found his car type Peugeot 406 where the bomb was placed.

According to an official source, when the security men dismantled the bomb they discovered that it contained two bombs and four pieces of TNT, however, the explosives were not connected with bomb because the wires were not connected as well. They also found an alarm in the bottom of the box, which explains that the bomb was placed for intimidation.

The bomb was transferred to the laboratory of the scientific police where the fingerprints were taken in order to identify the persons who placed the bomb.
