Abdelghani Hamel orders the opening of an investigation about protesters' repression by cops in Tizi Ouzou

Major General and General Manager of the National Security, Abdelghani Hamel, orders the opening of an investigations in the content of a video that shows people wearing cops’ official uniforms, and violating the principles and rules of the security work during the Amazigh Spring protests in Bouira, Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou and Bejaia (eastern Algiers).

According to a statement that was issued by the General Manager of the National Security, and as confirmed by the First Brigadier of police, Djilali Boudalia, Head of the Department of Information and Public Relations at the General Directorate of National Security, the General Manager of Security ordered the immediate investigation in the content of a video that shows people wearing cops uniforms and violating principles and rules of the security work.
“This video shows unacceptable behaviors and offenses against the police services”.
Maj. Gen. Hamel promised to take all the necessary disciplinary and legal actions against any violation of the rules that harm the dignity of citizens and the ethics of profession, and to punish all police officers who are involved in the infringement of people, especially if they did not respect his orders, which emphasized on the need to use peaceful methods with protesters, as penalties can reach up to firing.
Previously, a video that was largely shared in social networks showed clashes between cops and protesters on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the Amazigh Spring, and repression and unjustified violence against protesters who were detained by cops in civilian clothes and official uniforms, in a suburb of the city of Tizi Ouzou and kicked a young protester who was unconscious and naked, where he was subjected to several kicks.
