Abdelmoumene Khalifa to appear in French court on December 2nd
A court in Nanterre in France Thursday scheduled former Algerian tycoon Abdelmoumene Rafik Khalifa between December 2nd and 20th, 2013 along with 11 persons including his wife Nadia Amirouchene.
Khalifa, who is a former bank chief is accused of massive embezzlement related to the collapse of his group including Khalifa Airways and a car rent company.
The group would not pay its debts in France. Earlier in July 2002, Khalifa Airways bought villas in Cannes at about 36 million Euros.
Abdeloumene Khalifa is in prison in the UK after his arrest in 2007 under a European arrest warrant. British foreign minister has announced that the UK accepted to extradite him to France. Yet, the decision was banned upon a request from the ‘Golden Boy’s’ lawyers.
Earlier in April, a court in Blida opened the Khalifa Bank case but it was postponed to an unfixed date due to some administrative procedures. Arrested suspects have been on hunger strike since Thursday to protest against the decision.
