Actor Jamal Abed Al Naser in critical condition

The Egyptian actor Jamal Abed Al Naser was admitted to the hospital in critical condition for an emergency liver transplant.

• Jamal’s condition has been serious for some time and he was previously in a coma.
• Jamal’s family and celebrity friends were quick to rush to his side until his condition is stable.
• According to the London daily Elaph, Jamal was born in 1959 and starred in a number of Egyptian drama series like “Al Aailah” (The Family), “Layali Al Hilmyah” (Al Hilmyah’s Nights) and “Al Forsan” (The Knights). He also starred in many theatrical plays.
•  Jamal starred with Egyptian actress Nadia Al Jundi in the film “Imrah Fawq Al Kimah” (A Woman On top Of the Peak), boosting his acting career.  At the time there were rumors that he and Nadia were secretly married, but Jamal strongly denied the allegations.
• Jamal faced criticism for being named after the great Egyptian leader Jamal Abed Al Naser, but he refused to choose another artistic name. Jamal said that he kept his name because of his love for the late leader.
