Additional Internet Flow Is Pumped Through Algeria-Palermo Cable
Algérie Telecom company reinforced its internet flow capacities with additional 300 GB, during the last few days, in anticipation of any disturbances due to the maintenance process that takes place on the submarine cable of the Internet “SMW4” that is connecting Annaba and Marseilles, with an estimated capacity of 230 gigabytes.
Sources close to Algeria Telecom told Echorouk, that the internet flow capacity was enhanced, as Algérie Telecom Corporation worked to pump nearly 300 additional GB through the second submarine cable that connects Algeria to “Palermo” on the island of Sicily, in Italy, in order to ensure the normal flow of the Internet and to ensure the continued quality of service to customers by recruiting technical teams to look after the operation and follow-up the pumping of additional flow process step by step to overcome any possible disturbances.
According to the same sources, the fluctuation of the Internet does not reach the degree of discontinuity, noting that the company has not received any complaints by customers about the fluctuation in the supply of Internet services, since the date of the announcement of direct maintenance of the submarine cable.
Algerie Telecom explained that the maintenance takes place at the level of Marseilles, and the weak disturbances that may be recorded will touch 16 or 17 operators, because this submarine cable includes many countries, like Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Italy, Egypt, Tunisia, France and Algeria
According to our sources, the hours of fluctuations begin at 20:30 am until 23:30 pm, but not more than that, asserting that the volatility will not reach the degree of discontinuity and the customer will not feel that, but will only feel a slow loading of pages from time to time, but without a break.
Same sources added that the subscribers were able to obtain acceptable Internet flow, and no customer was object to complete interruption of Internet, and any other incidents will be isolated and unrelated to the cable, because the company was able to control the situation and ensure the flow of Internet at a stable and acceptable level.
