Adel Imam says tension between Egypt and Algeria is politically motivated

The famous Egyptian comedian Adel Imam recently held a press conference in Amman with the Egyptian actors Mirvat Ameen and Liblibah to discuss the new entertainment program “Acadimiat Al Za’eem” (The Leader’s Academy), to be aired on “Al Lord” satellite channel.

  • The general supervisor of the satellite channel “Al Lord” was also present to answer questions about the details about the new television program.  He said  the program will start in Egypt and then travel to seven Arab countries to select ten students to study in Cairo at the Academy, located at the Movenpick Hotel in ‘October 6th City.’  The studies will be supervised by Dr. Hasan Atyeh.
  • The students will compete for two slots to star in a film with Adel Imam.
  •  According to the London daily Elaph, Adel addressed political issues during the press conference. He talked about the Palestinian people and his relation with the late Palestinian president Yasser Arafat, and called for the reconciliation between Palestinian factions Fatah and Hamas.
  • In response to the tension between Egypt and Algeria, after Algerian fans attacked Egyptian fans following a soccer match in Sudan, Imam defended Algeria, noting his special relationship with the Algerian people and Algerian president Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
  • “The Algerian and Egyptian people are brothers despite this incident,” said Imam, suggesting that what was happening between Algeria and Egypt is politically motivated by those who want to create strife between Arab nations.
