“I am ready to run for office in presidential elections,” says Algeria technocrat
Ahmed Benbitour

Algerian former head of government Ahmed Benbitour said Sunday he is ready to run for office in the next presidential elections if necessary.

  • “I do not care about positions as I am a message seller and not a responsibility seeker. I will run for office to be elected as president for a short while if necessary,” he told in a conference in Algiers.
  •
  • “We hope that candidates will be from the young generation. Most of the current presidents in the world are under 50 and I am more than 60. Yet, if necessary, I will run for office and I will hold the position for a while to fix people’s ruling,” he added.
  •
  • Benbitour would have chosen Egyptian Mohamed Baradey who said he would run for office in the presidential elections if people ask him to do so.
  •
  • He believed that required change can not be done by people in the regime. “I do not see men in the current regime who are able to curry on change programs.”
