African Champions' League: JS Kabylie 1- 0 Ahly of Egypt
The Algerian first–division side of JS Kabylie clinched this Sunday evening a difficult but meritorious 1-nil victory over the visiting Egyptian squad of Al Ahly as part of group phase of the African champions' league competition in a packed Tizi Ouzou stadium.
-
Shortly after kick-off, the players of JS Kabylie rushed on the offensive with the hope of scoring early in order to get a firm grip on this thrilling and cliff-hanger match.
-
-
Several scoring opportunities were lost in the first 20 minutes of the match owing to the good defending capacities of the Egyptians who stood up in their defense perimeter with success during that period.
-
-
But, the Algerians players remained undaunted and continued pressurizing the Egyptian defense still further and on the 34th minute, a good scoring opportunity thanks to a left-side free-kick allowed young striker Ziti to hurl with his right-foot the incoming ball into the Egyptian net to the delight of all the JSK supporters.
-
-
Euphoria then gripped the whole stadium after this beautiful goal which obviously gave more stamina and potency to the Algerian players.
-
-
During most of the second half of the game, the JS Kabylie players retreated in defense and left the chance to the Egyptians to take over the mid-field and monopolize the ball but their repeated offensive spurts were finally inconclusive owing to their opponents’ potent defensive bulwark.
-
-
It should be noted that a short scuffle erupted on the pitch a few minutes before the referee’s final whistle after the assistant referee refused an Egyptian goal for a clear-cut offside shown repeatedly on the TV screens.
-
-
The referee was molested as a result by the Egyptian players and one of them was shown a red card.
-
-
All in all, the players of JS Kabylie were, to all intents and purposes really up to the mark and greatly deserved this most precious victory!
