Ahmed Attaf Affirms Algeria’s Solidarity With Syria

Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf affirmed Algeria’s absolute solidarity with Syria during a phone call with his Syrian counterpart, Bassam Sabbagh, on Tuesday afternoon, December 3.

According to a statement by the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs: “The call allowed the foreign minister to learn about the latest developments in northern Syria, and to confirm Algeria’s firm position and absolute solidarity with the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic, state and people, in the face of terrorism threatening its sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, its security and stability as well.”

Syrian Foreign Minister Bassam Sabbagh, for his part, expressed “his deep thanks and appreciation to Algeria for its solidarity and support for the request submitted by the Syrian authorities to hold an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, as well as to include an item on the recent developments in Syria during the upcoming emergency meeting of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level.”
