Air Algerie makes a check of Airbus aircrafts
Ouahid Bouabellah, CEO of Air Algerie

Algeria’s Air Algerie examined on Tuesday electronic devises of its Airbus A-330 following the crash of the Air France Airbus A330, CEO said.

  • “The French aircraft’s electronic devise was behind the crash but it is not totally the same of the Algerian airbus. Yet, Air Algerie examined all the devises of aircrafts,” Ouahid Bouabellah told a radio channel.
  • He added that 87 additional flights between Algeria and Europe are booked for June, July, August and September. Most of them are between Algeria and France.
  • “If there are other demands, the government can intervene to ask Air Algerie for more flights,” he said.
  • He believes that the number of passengers is expected to reach one million during June, July and August. “Most of them would be the Algerians living in France and in Europe in general.”
  • In 2008, Air Algerie organised 90 additional flights to transport Algerians living in Europe to Algeria.
  • Bouabdellah said Air Algeri’s fleet contains 30 aircrafts while it used to have 40. “Because of that, the company rented aircrafts from foreign companies to cover the demands of the Algerians living abroad and Algerian pilgrims.”
  • “The pilgrimage season this year will be in summer and will coincide with the return of the Algerian living abroad. That’s why, it was necessary to rent aircrafts,” he added.
