Al Jazeera’s Sami Hajj visits Algeria

Al Jazeera’s cameraman Sami Hajj paid his first visit to Algeria upon invitation from Algeria’s top selling daily newspaper Echorouk.

• Sami Hajj expressed his delight for visiting Algeria which he hoped since he was released from Guantanamo.
• Echorouk inaugurated a campaign for one million signatures for his release. “I loved Algeria and its people through the newspaper which I read at Guantanamo,” he said.
• Sami Hajj who was received by Chief Editor Mohamed Yakoubi and Deputy Chief Editor Mustapha Ferhat was accompanied by Doctor Fawzi Oussedik who arranged this visit.
• Echorouk will honour the cameraman. He is expected to hold a conference on Sunday for lawyers and journalists to talk about his experience in Guantanamo.
