Algeria: 94,000 Say “Yes” In Survey To English Accreditation At Universities

The results of the national survey on the promotion of English in the higher education and scientific research sector, which wrapped up on 5 August, revealed that more than 94 thousand participants, or 94.03 percent, expressed their approval for the integrated work project.
Supporters and advocates of the promotion of English within the university community swept the results of the referendum launched by the services of Minister Tayeb Bouzid through a digital platform placed at the disposal of the university family, which ended on Monday (August 5) in second slot after the Arabic language, against 5.7 percent of voters who rejected the move.
According to a minister’s posting on his official Facebook page, the sounding of opinions on promoting the use of English in Algerian university institutions had more than 1,152,227 views, while the number of voters was 94,741, adding that the ministry through its services will launch shortly the second phase of the process, with the file being presented for study and discussion, through providing guidance to the directors of institutions of higher education and scientific research to open spaces for substantive discussion to come up with an integrated work plan applicable in practice.
