Algeria airport attack planners appear in court
The International Airport of Algiers

A court in Algiers started on Monday dealing with an attempt of blowing up the international airport of Houari Boumediene by terrorist groups led by Sahraoui who has been recently killed by security forces.

  • The armed groups were planning to carry out the attacks on July 8 or 9th in 2007 after bringing the bombs into the airport by an employee.
  • Attorney General sought five years in prison for two men accused of supplying an armed terrorist group, saying they were arrested following security investigations on terrorists.
  • After deliberations, the court acquitted the suspects.
  •  Suspect M. R. a worker at the airport tried to skip all his previous confessions as he had told judges he had been working with terrorist groups since 2003.
  • Terrorist Ismail recruited him as a support member of the groups and he brought food and sim cards. Then, Sahraoui ordered him to keep watch on the police and carry the bomb to the airport. He rejected the mission but he changed his mind after they had threatened to blow his house up.
  • The second suspect S. A. 28, said he had nothing to do with terrorist groups neither was he involved in the attack plan, adding he did not supplied the groups with food as it was mentioned in the judicial file.
