Algeria Allocates over DZD 10 Billion To Deport African Illegal Immigrants
Algeria spent more than DZD 10 billion (100 billion centimes) to repatriate the 13,000 African migrants to their countries, including kids and women, and to take adequate care and shelter for them as well, Head of the National Council for Human Rights, Fafa Sidi Lakhdar Ben Zerrougui, said.
In a lecture that she delivered at the Faculty of Information and Communication Sciences at the University of Algiers 3, on Tuesday, Fafa explained that Algeria made great strides in promoting human rights.
“Over the past three years, 13,000 refugees were deported to their countries of origin after taking care of them, which costed the state treasury over DZD 10 billion”.
“These refugees were victims of human trafficking gangs, while the state provided treatment for 37% of them, indicating the generosity and good treatment of Algerians with all nationalities and their rejection of racism, despite harsh reports that were issued by Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International against Algeria”.
On the death penalty, the President of the Council said that the Commission opened a comprehensive dialogue on the implementation of the resolution or not, as it was exposed by some parties and was defended by others, while no decision was taken so far in this regard.
