Algeria army batters down surrounded terrorists
A terrorist group attempted to escape from the grip of security forces after they have been surrounded for two weeks in the area off Sidi Ali Bounab as part of a security clampdown in Tizi Ouzou province (100 km east of Algiers), Echorouk has learnt.

The terrorists are living in fear and instability after security forces tightened the noose on them by carrying out large-scale “hit and destroy” operations in the nearby forests, the same sources said.

Security forces ambushed the escaping terrorists and wounded some of them. Some blood stains were seen on the ground in the vicinity of the Sidi Ali Bounab forest.

Earlier last week, four terrorists surrendered to the security forces carrying with them their kalachnikovs rifles. They gave information about the location of some terrorist hideouts in the same forest.

The National Popular Army has been carrying out large-scale combing operations in suspicious areas to track down terrorists belonging to the “Al Arkam brigade” said to be holed up in the forests of the province of Boumerdes (50 km east of Algiers).
