Algeria bans dangerous chemical products
Algerian health and trade ministry set a list of toxic consumed products and chemical substances used to make them banned from use.
-
A total of 11 substances including those containing chlorine, cleaning products and anti-fungus ones are described as “dangerous,” according to the Official Journal.
-
Chemical toys, pacifiers, baby’s bottles, ceramic utensils and cooking tools made in plastic are also included in the list.
-
The same source warned against using mercury and lead in making school tools, toys and paints.
-
This measure is meant to end the anarchy in the national market in terms of non-respect of standards in marketing consumed products.
-
Shopkeepers will have to check all their goods as the ministerial decision is very clear. It stipulates to ban every product likely to be dangerous for people’s health even in an indirect way.
-
The decision will oblige factories and manufacturing units to ban dangerous substances set by the ministries.
-
It also set a list of chemical products allowed for use but in reasonable limits without banning them completely.
