Algeria book fair set for October 27
The 14th edition of Algeria’s international book fair is expected to be organised from October 27th to November 6th at the Palais des Expositions in Algiers with a set of new measures determined by the culture ministry.
-
Organisers chose Palestine to be the honour guest of the edition as part of the event of Al Qods, Eternal Capital of Arab culture, Echorouk has learnt.
-
The culture ministry set July 31st as deadline for book lists delivery, August 31st for reading commission reports and September 30th for books arrival to Algeria.
-
The ministry determined 200 copies for each book in the fair while tapes and CD-ROMs will be banned. Arab publishers will have to open banking accounts for financial transfers.
-
According to the same source, those measures are meant to ingrain Algeria’s fair as a professional event in the international exhibitions. Because of that, the commission will forbid books sale after 7:30 pm and exhibitors will have to hand over stands keys to the Palais des Expositions administration.
