Algeria confirms new swine case among pilgrims

Algeria reported new H1N1case raising fears among pilgrims as the confirmed case is 63-year-old pilgrim woman, Echorouk learnt.

  •
  • The case was discovered when the aircraft carrying the pilgrims landed off in Saudi Arabia coming from the airport of Oran (west of Algiers).
  •
  • The woman was transferred to a specialised hospital in Jeddah in charge of treating pilgrims hit by the virus.
  •
  • The Algerian medical delegation in Jeddah is following her health state. Algerian doctors visit her and provide her with psychological care in collaboration with Saudi experts.
  •
  • A preliminary medical report shows that her health state is stable and doctors say she may not leave hospital soon to complete the pilgrimage rites.
  •
  • “The woman’s psychological state is the most difficult due to the big shock which was about to become a mental depression,” said the report.
