Algeria: “European-like cities in 48 provinces as part of new urbanization plan”
A General Manager at the Housing and Town Planning Ministry, Kamel Touati, has said that a comprehensive feasibility study is underway at the level of experts with the aim of refurbishing the degraded image of many cities across the 48 provinces of Algeria as part of a brand-new urbanization plan.
In a statement on Thursday to Echorouk, Kamel Touati said that new legal measures would be taken soon in a bid to upgrade the Algerian cities in terms of modern living conditions and the proper amenities in all fields of endeavour for the well-being and comfort of all the inhabitants.
He added that this urbanization development plan was geared to rehabilitating the Algerian cities across the 48 provinces of the country through the implementation of this mega endeavour in consistence with the high-grade urbanization norms in force in most European nations.
Mr Kamel Touati also affirmed that the projected urban rehabilitation scheme would nonetheless take into account the preservation of the local ancestral architectural specificities of each region while modernizing the various local facilities as well as the housing units and the necessary amenities in every city of the country.
