Algeria Expels Pro Gaddafi Officials

Algeria authorities have extradited pro Gaddafi former officials after they managed entering the country early Ramadan, well informed sources said.

 

The sources added that the authorities have rejected allowing Minister of Education in Gaddafi regime and her family members to enter Algeria via Debdab crossing post, in accordance to new instructions of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, requiring authorities to carefully select people who are due to be allowed to enter the country as refugees from Libya.

In this regard, President Bouteflika ordered border guard authorities not to let any official who served in the regime of the toppled Gaddafi to enter the country. 

Yet, authorities have recently expelled former Libyan Minister of Sport in the nineties, Fatah Mohamed Snoussi Kebal and one of his sons, in addition to former director of state run Libyan radio. 

However, Mr Bouteflika has ordered authorities to receive Libyan and foreign civilians fleeing the strife torn Libya to seek refuge in Algeria, on humanitarian ground.

Foreign Ministry and Interior Ministry are urged to coordinate with foreign embassies in Algeria to take care of the foreign refugees and then carrying them home.  

In this regard, 60 foreign nationals have crossed border to Algeria to flee the armed conflict in Libya, including 20 Turkish. Besides, 634 Libyan Touaregs have been offered refuge in Algeria after they fled racial liquidation perpetuated in the locality of Ghdames in Libya. 

To recall, Algeria has already allowed 2100 Libyan nationals to enter the country since the erupting of the conflict in the neighbouring country, including Gaddafi’s daughter Aisha, his sons Hannibal and Mohamed and their mother Safia.
