Algeria families shelter Egyptians, police protect them

Contrarily to what happened to Algerian fans in Egypt after Saturday’s match, none of the Egyptian people living in Algeria was hit except isolated cases as part of accounts settlement.

  • Some Egyptians told Echorouk Algerian people sheltered them in their houses and gave them food. Security forces took measures to ensure their safety after 12 Egyptians had been attacked in some areas of Algiers.

  • More than 15,000 policemen were mobilised to protect Egyptian nationals, their belongings and their investments in Algeria. A special plan was set up to keep watch on the places were the nationals are present in all the provinces of Algeria.

  • Police officers were ordered to avoid any clashes with angry fans due to what happened to Algerian fans in Egypt.
  •  
  • Authorities asked families living in the area of Gue de Constantine in Algiers to shelter 12 Egyptian workers and protect them from the angry fans.
