Algeria foils attempt to smuggle million euros to Dubai
Customs agents and police forces Sunday foiled an attempt to smuggle more than a million euros by a 39 –year-old man in the province of Khenchela, Echorouk has learnt.
The smuggler was caught at the Algiers-Tunis International Road eastern Khenchela. He put the money in the back seat of his Mercedes car.
The car which was sized was coming from the province of Setif. An investigation was open in collaboration with the judicial police in Khenchela. The man is expected to appear in court.
According to the same sources, this comes as customs had received information about a suspicious man. After conducting an investigation about his identity, a trap was organized in collaboration with security forces and customs. They managed to arrest the car and the smuggler tried to run away but he could not.
He planned to smuggle the money to Dubai. He has been a professional smuggler for many years. He had gone to Setif to convert Tunisian and national currencies to Euro to smuggle them.
