The first half of the match didn’t live up to the fans’ expectations as the Algerian players couldn’t materialize the few attempts to reach the adversary’s goal on account of a good defensive strategy applied by the Libyans.

Apart from three clear attempts through Hadj Aissa and Bougheche, the Algerian players didn’t really destabilize the Libyan defence led by the Maestro and former JS Kabylie defender Omar Doud.

-
The second half saw a quasi- full domination of the Algerian players over their rivals and was materialized by a the unique goal of the match scored by the seasoned forward Ghezali at the second minute after receiving a ball from Bougueche and found himself face to face with goalkeeper.

The Algerian players tried to score other goals all along the remaining period in a move to increase their advantage ahead of the return match in Libya but to no avail because of a lack of effectiveness in front of the opposing goal.

The presence of the Head coach Rabah Saadane in the stadium was a double-edged razor for the players who wanted to make a good showing in front of him but affected their overall performance.
