Algeria, France to sign security cooperation agreement

French Gendarmerie chief is expected to sign an agreement on security cooperation between Algeria and France on his visit to Algeria.

  • The agreement will include clauses on the fight against organised crime, terrorism, money laundry, economic crimes, arms dealing, document forgery and cybercrimes.
  • According to the communication cell at the National Gendarmerie, Roland Gilles is on a two-day visit to Algeria accompanied by a high-ranking military delegation as part of a security agreement between Algeria and France.
  • Senior executives at the National Gendarmerie will fly soon to France to benefit from a one-year training session, Echorouk has learnt.
  • The signature on security cooperation protocol with France comes following a similar agreement with the Turkish Gendarmerie concluded, two months ago.
  • Previously, military officials from Tunisia, Italy and Mali paid visits to Algeria as part of expertise exchange in many common security issues.
