Algeria: “Illegal Taxi Driver” Kidnapped Girls With Plastic Gun And Raped them!

The urban security elements of the district of Delly Brahim (upper Algiers) are continuing to investigate the reported case of the “rapist informal taxi driver” who used to lure female university students through social networking sites and change his road destination by taken them to semi-isolated locations before assaulting them, stealing their mobile phones and filming outrageous videos for posting purposes on the Internet.

The details of the case, which raised many fears among the Algerian families, was at first a minor issue, but took a larger scope after one of the victims of this culprit  lodged a complaint with the services of the urban security of Delly Brahim after being beaten up and stripped of  her phone by the latter. 

This complaint prompted the relevant security services to address the issue and to kick-start a thorough investigation.

According to police Chief, Mr Bouzarra Redouane, head of the urban security services of Delly Brahim district, the thief’s mobile phone was tracked down after using the various techniques to reveal the truth. 

Two months later, on March 23rd, the security services arrested the suspected 27-year-old illegal taxi driver on board his car, after he had forcibly seized more than 14 mobile phones from his various victims. They also retrieved in the process a plastic pistol and two telephones belonging to the rapist. 

After reviewing the seized mobile phones, the security investigators saw shocking videos of the rapist and his victims.

After the investigations, the security agents were able to arrive at the truth, with the accused acknowledging the facts, saying that the seized mobile phones belonged to the victims whom he had assaulted after taking them on board his vehicle.

The spokesman added that the defendant got acquainted with the lured victims via the sites of “Facebook, Twitter and Instigram” and set them meeting dates before robbing and beating them and also attempting to rape them on board his car which he used to drive to semi-isolated locations so as to perpetrate unhindered his heinous misdeeds.

He also affirmed that the culprit used is to park his vehicle in front of Universities and Institutes as well as University residences by offering the credulous girls to take them to their chosen destinations for a meager fee ranging between 250 Dinars and 300 Dinars.

After being confronted with the truth, the accused denied the kidnapping charges and claimed that “the girls were going up with him on their own free will” .

Mr Bouzarra said the case was still open after only seven victims were identified, adding that the number was likely to rise on the basis of the 14 mobile phones that had been booked by the security services as part of the investigations.
