Algeria Maliki and Ibadite reconcile
Maliki and Ibadite sects in the Algerian southern area of Ouadi Mizab agreed on ending their conflicts which led to bloody clashes killing many people.The agreement came after a series of meetings sponsored by Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika with the mediation of interior delegate minister Dehou Oueld Kablya and under the direct supervision of Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia.The reconciliation document was signed on March 31. Both sects agreed on 15 points to make efforts in calming down the situation in their area. They commit themselves to hold meetings with various categories of people to sensitize them. The document says the two sects must avoid any provocation or clashes. They also should allow security forces to intervene to treat the situation.“Coexistence is everyone’s mission,†says the document.It stressed dialogue to eliminate all factors behind tension. It also stressed the necessity of consultation between representatives from both sects and local authorities.
